Mary and Olivia were on the way back home after visiting the Library. “I don’t know, “ shrugged Olivia, “and who cares! Mary nodded. The two sisters skipped down the street, humming a tune. “I am really hungry!” moaned Mary. But just before Olivia answered her, there came a loud BOOOOOOM!!! The two girl were frozen with fear. “What happened?” cried Olivia. The girls turned their heads. They were shocked. “The volcano is erupting! Quick! Run, run!!!” shouted Mary. The houses was collapsing. Animals in the stables were yelling. Mary and Olivia were running back to their home. They grabbed their mum and dad and ran out the house. “We’ve got to run!” explained Olivia to her mum and dad. “Volcano Vesuvius is erupting!” “Mom, dad, quick, run!” Mary shouted. Ashes were coming to them. Mary was crying. Olivia was choking. Mum was worried. Dad was holding their hands and pulled them to run. Luckily, they ran very far from the volcano so they survived. “Phew……” sighed the family. “We lost our home and my doll!” Mary wept. “tonight, we will camp here,” suggested dad. And the day was over. “Run for your life!” Steak was going to the Villa at noon, on AD79, August 24th. Because it was summer, it was burning hot. He was riding on his horse along the cobblestoned road. He could smell some delicious cheese on bread and he could touch his horses hard back. But then, his horse froze with an uneasy feeling. Steak was mad, so he dragged the horse to the Villa. When they were almost there.... BOOM! The volcano erupted! Steak was frozen with fear. He saw some stones coming out of the volcano. He was scared because the rocks were burning hot. He heard another explosion, so he and his horse bolted out of the town. Now he was safe, but with no money and no food. Steak was thinking, “My money!” and the horse was thinking, “My favorite lunch!” When he went back to Pompeii after one year, Steak thought, “I could get my things back now!” but he was shocked. There were nothing but ash and rocks, “Wow! A volcanic explosion is scarier than I thought!” |
